Weneso Orogun

Mr Orogun is the Managing Consultant, Weneso Orogun & Associates, a firm of Research, Policy & Strategy specialists/editorial consultants.
An economist and development consultant with demonstrable skills in research, policy, and strategy development as well as monitoring and evaluation/impact assessment, his experience spans 32 years in diverse and challenging capacities: lecturer, economics editor of The Guardian Newspaper, programme officer with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group), CEO of two economics consultancy firms at different times (African Development Consulting Group, ADCG, and DataStream Information Bureau Limited), CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Financial Standard Newspaper, and Consultant/Director of Research in the Presidency (National Economic Intelligence Committee, NEIC).
He has also had numerous short-term consultancy assignments in the public sector at Federal and State Government levels working on the World Bank, the UNDP, and DFID-funded programmes such as SLGP and SPARC.
Mr. Orogun obtained a B.Sc. Economics (Second Class Upper) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1979 and was in 1986 awarded M.Sc. Land Resources (with specialisation in land policy and administration) by the Bayero University, Kano.
In recognition of his work in the development community, the Federal Government of Nigeria in November 2009 named Weneso a member of the 60-member Chief Philip Asiodu-led National Working Group in preparation for the First National Implementation Plan extracted from the National Vision 20:2020 Economic Transformation Blueprint.
Orogun was in April 2012 appointed a non-resident policy and strategy/ M&E consultant by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for an initial period of four years.
